We are seeking an experienced Lead Technical Architect to provide technical leadership on a major public sector cloud migration and hosting transformation programme.
This role will lead the technical disposition and migration strategy for a complex application estate transitioning from legacy data centre environments into cloud and hosted platforms. You will guide architectural decisions from discovery and design through migration, cutover, and operational acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead migration and technical disposition strategies.
- Assess application dependencies, infrastructure requirements, and migration constraints.
- Provide technical leadership across discovery, design, migration, and cutover activities.
- Drive decisions around re-hosting, re-platforming, and migration approaches.
- Manage technical risks, assumptions, and architectural governance.
- Collaborate with cloud, hosting, security, network, and engineering teams to ensure migration readiness.
- Lead technical governance reviews and provide senior stakeholder reporting.
Essential Experience
- Extensive experience as a Lead, Enterprise, Technical, or Migration Architect.
- Proven delivery of large-scale cloud migration, hosting transformation, or data programmes.
- Strong cloud architecture and migration expertise.
- Experience managing complex application estates within multi-supplier environments.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, security, resilience, and operational readiness.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Active SC Clearance (or ability to obtain it).
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering programmes within Central Government or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of legacy technologies including Oracle, WebLogic, AIX, Solaris, Windows, Linux, COBOL, and IIS.
- Experience with large-scale lift-and-shift migration programmes.
